The question was: When are the good guys going to hack these feckless morons?

@merileedkarr that would be nice, but I don’t know what the larger goal would be? Maybe to doxx these idiots, and maybe then invite people to visit violence upon them? (It would be totally cool with if that happened, by the way.) Or maybe drain their bank accounts, which would risk prosecution for espionage (not that the rule of law means anything anymore nowadays.)

It looks to me more like the Trump administration is going to self-destruct at some point in the near future, this could come about due to pressure from foreign adversaries like the Chinese, and/or internal pressure from big business fascists who have decided Trump has become too much of a liability.

I think the most important thing is to try and minimize the fallout from their self destruction, and I mean that both literally and figuratively, because Trump does in fact control the nuclear arsenal.

This bit from the NYT's live coverage reinforces my thinking on this. Suddenly Trump is "not involved" with the question. The fate of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, which three days ago was the subject of extensive remarks by him in the Oval Office, is now too small a matter for his attention, he tells us. It's something for his subordinates to work out. Trivia for the lawyers.

This is what a man like Donald Trump says when he is preparing to wash his hands of something.

Trying to remember when I first heard #Trump talk about wanting to deport US citizens. I'm pretty sure it was January 2024. I remember posting about it here, and no one seemed particularly interested - maybe b/c news outlets weren't covering it? Anyone recall the venue or how he phrased it?

I take Sen. Van Hollen's meeting with Kilmar Abrego Garcia as a hopeful sign. Not just because it lets us know he is at least still alive. But because it is a concession. And Donald Trump doesn't make concessions if he thinks he's winning.

If he felt that his position on this was unassailable, he would not have allowed the meeting. He would have told Van Hollen (and any who followed) to go pound sand, and dared them to do something about it.

But he didn't, which implies to me that he does not feel unassailable on this. Something has made him decide he cannot simply muscle his way through this one.

@codinghorror @cdarwin rich white guys like David Brooks may be mad now, but all they want is a return to the old status quo, not really understanding or caring that the status old quo was what created the perfect conditions for Trump to seize power of the US government. He can quote Marx all he wants, he still doesn't seem to me to be at all interested in how we came to this point of total constitutional crisis that we are in now.

The conditions that let Trump consolidate power of the US government is all related to, the roll-back of Roe v. Wade, the militarization of the police, the climate crisis, and the various US-backed genocides going on right now. All of these things are related by the same cause. So if there are to be wildcat strikes and mass civil disobediance against Trump's despotism, the movement **must** demand redress of all of those issues at once, or it will ultimately affect no change at all.

Indiana University is investigating a professor for violating a state law censoring criticism of political topics the state does not want discussed in classes.

"The initial bias report against Robinson focuses on his criticisms of IU and Israel."

Per the report: “He talks negatively about the state of Israel and describes the war in untrue and unfair ways.”
