I remember how difficult it was to get on Twitter before it became Twitler. The hashtag scheme on here helps a lot but honestly it costs *nothing* to give a new user a follow and get them some traction so they can find their people.

But it would also be up to each server whether to include it, and within each server type it would be up to each instance.

All those differences would lead to a very slow progress, and you'd also have lots of followers you never knew about and could never count.

To make my point more concrete, I'll follow you on an instance that doesn't follow most #mastodon rules and you'll see what I mean.

If you block a server using the "domain block" feature on Mastodon, this will cause you to lose any follows or followers you have on that server. The exact number of follows/followers you would lose are shown at the top of the warning when you do the block.
