When in doubt, ask your #ttrpg friends...
Working on a #battlemap. Subtle shadows or deep shadows and bright lights?
#fantasymap
An alternative. I received quite a bit of feedback (thanks heaps folks!) on here and other sites. I tried to come up with something that is very clearly readable, but still visually attractive. #ttrpg #fantasymap #DnD
@marteloschwarz deep shadows all the way. It helps place the rocks in the scene, otherwise they kinda look like they are floating on the snow.
@tamarackarack Good point, thanks for the feedback!
@marteloschwarz I like the deep shadows, but I’ve always been a bit of a drama queen.
@EmpyClaw Aren't we all? Thanks for the feedback.
@marteloschwarz Deep shadows and bright lights for me.
@weirdadmiral Thanks a lot.
@marteloschwarz subtle. The map is more a tool to mark positions than a piece of art to me (to be clear: yes, it's both, I'm just leaning to the practical side)
@dnddeutsch Yeah, I feel the same that's why I usually stay away from the more artistic rendering. The feedback I'm getting from here is really valuable. I need to find a way to balance artistic and clear.
@marteloschwarz The latter is better if there are some mechanics for increased stealth for shadowed areas. If there's not, the first is superior because it doesn't imply that there should be.
@lextenebris Thanks for the feedback!
@lextenebris Thanks for the feedback. Appreciated.
@marteloschwarz mein Favorit!
@dnddeutsch Dann war das ein erfolgreicher Abschluss des Kartenmachen-Wochenendes. :)
